Everyone loves a ghost story. Some
even make a career out of it. Chad
Lewis, author of
The Wisconsin Road Guide to Haunted
Locations, is one such person, and
he hosts The Unexplained Conference, an
event that highlights the work of people
who make the paranormal a career.
Lewis, who has a master's degree in
applied psychology, travels across the
Midwest and the world to investigate
reports of paranormal activity.
Still, he says Wisconsin is still one of
the prime spots. "That's one of
the highlights of the conference," Lewis
says, "They can hear about these things
that are right in their backyards.
Things get a little eerier when it's
right in your downtown." Those
ghost stories, crop circles, UFO
sightings and tales from people who have
come back from being medically dead.
Wausau Paranormal Research Society
consultant Todd Roll can attest to the
area's eeriness firsthand. The
UWMC librarian has gone on countless
paranormal investigations, but says this
area has some of the most interesting.
Reports of the paranormal have come from
the former Rogers Theater in downtown
Wausau for years. While standing
near a projection booth during an
investigation there, he and two others
observed a theater seat swinging of its
own volition. "I can't explain
what happened," Roll says. They
will be joined by Terry Fisk, Lewis'
co-author on
The Wisconsin Road Guide to Haunted
Locations, who will give a
presentation on the different concepts
of the afterlife. Also featured is
a Q&A session with Noah Voss and Kevin
Nelson, investigators who've appeared on
ABC's "The World's Scariest Places."
Event starts 7 pm. $9 for adults,
$5 for children.
